Let me tell you a story about a store named Fry's...

It's worth $600 alone for DIRAC alone, which is typically a $300 license. So you're getting a 9.2 receiver for $300, and the best auto calibration software in the market. Anyone with an entry level Yamaha or Denon should be jumping on this.

Just to update everyone on the signal dropouts I've been having on the VSX-LX305. I bought a CEC less HDMI adapter. Signal dropout still occured, within 5 minutes at that. My next attempt will be to use an HDMI switch. Because the Firestick is essentially on...forever, I think the fact that it's sending a signal to the Pioneer is the issue. An hdmi switch should probably work as it'll prevent any signal at all reaching it. But this now seems more of a receiver software issue than anything.

I have had issues with fire stick with several tvs as well. Try taking fire stick out see if that alevates your problem.

I received mine a couple of days ago and had my fingers crossed that I liked it enough to keep it to replace my Yamaha TSR-700 (I wanted a 9.2 receiver). I ran Direc and am blown away by how great movies sound. I couldn't be happier.

To my ears, music sounds good/better than the TSR-700 did but I might not be the best person to judge music as I really don't normally listen to much.

Yes correct and that was my all be it sarcastic point but to the point nonetheless.

Personas(any traditional speakers) for apartment use is completely a waste, especially something like the Personas!
You would not get anywhere near their potential let alone with a $1K AVR in one!
Again the 5/7s were in a dedicated (much larger) room and a top of the line AVR did not get them there(not close imo).

If you're not joking or just trying to brag(I would too Wink )
Assuming they are brand new(or you would just use the equipment you did before).

I would strongly recommend leave/put them back in their box and store them in a nice cool dry place in that apartment.
Buy some used soundbar for like $150 and use that until you get to that new media room.
Save that $1k and keep adding to it.
When you get to that media room you will have a nice budget to get equipment that will take full advantage of the jaw dropping Personas!

Obviously if I have a 5.1.2 setup, I already have Atmos, otherwise I would not have had the RZ series. The MLT-2 was for the surround and I have decent in-ceiling 8" speakers.

DIRAC was one of the main reasons, as my room and seating is VERY bad in my TV room/mancave. I've had to rely on my own ears to adjust speaker

I'm surprised you're replacing your RZ830 with this one... please update me on whether the upgrade was worth it! TIA

For 5.1.2 setup with compact Home Theater in a Box MLT-2 speakers, keep your RZ720 and save your money for when you upgrade to Atmos and larger speakers unless you think your room acoustics are so bad that you really need DIRAC correction. Newer/cooler tech keeps coming and you can get something better that's more scalable with preamps etc. Or this will be available on craigslist/FB marketplace for ~250 in a couple of years

By the way, I just received mine today. Will be replacing my TX-RZ830 over the weekend. Will post whether the upgrade to this made any difference

Same. I got the $350 Jamo speaker package, not the greatest quality speakers but after turning Dirac on an off, it's clear that Dirac has great abilities to make decent speakers sound better. Entire midrange sounded recessed without it.

On a side note, my subwoofer keeps resetting to -6dB everytime i turn on the subwoofer. That level seems to sound the most balanced so it would make sense that the "levels" portion of the EQ process tuned it. However, does anyone know how to lock in a new dB to the subwoofer?

Can someone help me with my logic here? I built out my home theater setup back in the late '00s, including an Onkyo TX-SR606 receiver. Been working like a champ for over a decade. However, with all of the HDMI ports in the back of the receiver, it's a big pain in the butt to move my $40 Amazon Firestick back and forth between my receiver and the TV in front of my treadmill.

I see this $549 Onkyo version has an HDMI port in the front, which would make moving my $40 Firestick much, much, much easier.

So it makes perfect sense to upgrade, right? Right?

Debatable. If your current system is working well and meets your needs, why not just buy another Fire TV? Assuming your treadmill is not 4k, you can get another Fire TV for $25, which is a lot cheaper than $550. Also, the Onkyo does not have a USB port on the front panel, so you'll also have to find a way to conveniently power the Fire TV.

Have you tried logging into the web interface on a computer, using the receivers IP address? I find that you can change a lot in there. P.S. - Use ciuser for the login and password
