It depends, this new UNIFIED MEMORY concept with the super fast SSDs will get you through almost all daily activities. I have 3 google chrome logins with ~15 tabs open on each all the time. 3-4 Safari tabs and work with Notes / Numbers and convert my iPhone videos to MP4 all the time. The system never feels laggy at all. I really mean NEVER

because a handful of people spread rumours on shady websites that the screen "spontaneously cracks" .
There was a guy in the old thread who said he had 2 of them crack. But it was all made up I think , he mentioned apple was asking him to pay for shipping his laptop for service, I can guarantee that Apple will always cover shipping both ways in case you need service.

That's the way to sweeten it.
If you would be adding Applecare+ , do not buy at BestBuy instead call Apple support and ask for the Student Deal on Applecare+ , they are giving 20% off. ~$160+taxes for 3 year coverage.

That's exactly what I did! I bought it, took it home and before I opened it I just happened to see an online article about the screens cracking, so I took it back. Is that really not an issue with these? Seems it's all over the internet that it's a problem with these. I figured I'd wait till the next version.

I'm developing mobile apps on Visual Studio 2019 for Mac running under Rosetta, using Android and iOS emulator (both run crazy fast by the way) along with several Chrome tabs, all running at the same time. I have no idea how this machine keeps up with everything with just 8GB of RAM. No memory messages or lags so far.

Sometimes I don't understand all the people complaining about it. Maybe you need more RAM for video/audio processing but that it's not my area of expertise.

Having said that, I would definitely jump to the 16 GB later to run Windows 10 ARM with Parallels, since I'm pretty sure more RAM will be needed.

This is a great computer, specially at this price. I definitely recommend it.

I've been wanting to purchase a laptop for sometime now, but unsure. I got $50 in Best Buy rewards, still idk. Is this a good buy, or should I just wait until Black Friday for a better or cheaper deal? I'm in no rush.

I don't know much about computers, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I got this last month with the same deal. Coming from a 2017 MBP this Air is right on par but much sleeker. I find myself taking this all over the house with me. The MBP I basically left as a desktop. Performance wise they are pretty much the same too.

Nice! I brought one for 800 bucks few weeks for my daughter and she asked to return it because she wants to wait for new version. She just changed her mind yesterday because her current MacBook Pro from 2017 WiFi is acting up, this is perfect timing. I just ordered one for $749.
