Windows is absolutely, 100% NOT better for productivity. I do audio recording, photography and the occasional video editing and Windows has gotten exponentially worse because of Windows 10.

Forced automatic updates continually break my apps & drivers. Windows 7 was generally stable and updates could be turned off but 10 is an absolute heap of garbage. After updates, my machine can't even go to sleep without blue screening. Don't even get me started on telemetry.

Meanwhile, on my Mac Mini M1 things are very stable after my apps updated to run natively on Apple silicone. I live the dongle life, but at least I can get work done on the Mac. Also, no forced updates.

While there may be M2 Pro/Max announced in October, it will NOT be on the 3nm process. TSMC announced they are starting production of 3nm chips now. Will take several months for vaildation, testing, and to get yields up. Apple will need to do their own testing and validation. TSMC said they expect 3nm to start as a revenue stream in 2023. No chance we get 3nm M2 in October.

However, possible we get 5nm (current) M2 Pro/Max in October. If so, expect 20% CPU gain, plus more graphics cores. I would expect 3nm to be ready for Mac at earliest in March, but more likely June. I would bet it doesn't go to Pros first, but gets rolled out in lower models as a vanilla M3. Possibly making it to pro machines as M3 Pro/Max by mid/late next year. If no announcement in October, then possible it does go directly to Pros in March or June.
They will ANNOUNCE it with new 3nm chip by end of this year. The article is not saying anyting about 3nm coming this year. Production expected to march/april to go out march/april of 2023 as stated in the article. Production is 3nm chip is september so it is extremely likely 2023 will have the 3nm chip. It would not make much sense for Apple to release it with 5nm chip as it will only be marginally better. Sources below. Many are confirming 3nm coming in 2023 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l...V2U&t=371s

You get additional warranty included through Costco so it's an added bonus.

Is it worth saving $98 to get the open box excellent certified? The extra savings would help but buying a brand new laptop is enticing.
Anyone who bought open box Macbook from Best Buy mind to share your experience on warranty issue? How many months left when you get the open box mac? Any way to get apple or best buy to fix the warranty starting date to get full one year on open box, or has to go through best buy to cover up to 12 months from purchase date after apple warranty expired? TIA

I've heard of some people having issues with open box excellent certified laptops and others who had no issue. I know this is slickdeals but if you're not too pressed on money i would just buy the $1599 brand new especially if you are shelling out $1000+ on a laptop anyway

Check this page: https://customerservice.costco.co...emption%3F

They should refund the tax if you follow the directions.
