Its up to you as the user to decide whether or not its worth it. Just remember that laptops stay as you buy them. So typically would not recoomend a 8gb laptop. Yes, Apple does well with 8gb, but I still prefer 16gb. Drive space on the other hand, is a bit different, as many have external ssd's they use, which are far cheaper than you would pay buying from Apple.
Nobody is using these laptops to replace desktops(which are real workhorse).

This MB Pro, is going to be my personal laptop. Back in the dino days (i.e. before the internet) I used to write software for Macs. Loved them, but my work has been on the Windows or Linux platform since then. Going back to my roots
