It took close to 2 hours to install the first, between my reading the instructions and watching the install video a dozen times... The second install took less than an hour once I was familiar with and confident of the process.
Installing was easy in hindsight.
They do a great job cooling our bedrooms and will serve to ease the load of the central unit, reducing overall power consumption.

Manufacture date is 11/2022 so 10 months. Not bad IMO.
Following is my (iniital) review.
Install was easier than expected after watching a few videos to familiarize before-hand. First time so I was extremely diligent and it took a couple of hours but I'm certain removal (in a few weeks) and re-installation next season will be very very quick.
It is super quiet which was the main reason for getting this as I sleep very very light. I will say, after several humid nights (flat tar-roof top floor bedroom ~275 sq ft), and firing it up an hr or two each time before entering the "all day" closed door bedroom which had initial temps of 88-90°, the temp was reduced to 79°-82°, with the AC set at 75°, and outdoors still at ~80° and high humidity.
Shortly after (1 hr) the target temp is reached and fan/compressor speed is minimized really making this thing quieter than my desk fan. The app also lets you turn off the beep feedback sounds, AND all the lights on the units' display.
By the 3rd or 4th night we'd finally had rain since I initially installed the AC (big down pours) and that night when entering the cooled bedroom for the night, I thought I detected the faint high pitched whinny sound many have complained about.
I *did* have to listen pretty closely to notice it from my bed (about 6 ft from the unit) but later overnight when I momentarily awoke, I couldn't hear it all. And I got up to check by the unit too.
Perhaps it was always there and I just didn't notice it the first few nights, or maybe being flooded with rains that day/evening had something to do with it, but on a subsequent dry day/night, I think I still heard it. But as usual, it went away at some point overnight. EVEN if I then lowered the unit's temp say to 74° or 73° to make the room colder and cause the compressor/fan to crank up high.
Either way, it's not something that I consider a problem since it's too low for even me to notice for more than a few moments when my head first hits the pillow (my hearing is fine). It could also have to do with the installation/isolation using foam etc. To be determined.
I will say that on Auto Cool/Eco, I only one time noticed the unit completely shut down, despite my room being at OR below (by a degree or two) the target temperature, as observed in the app, AND on a portable thermostat I have on my nightstand right next to where I sleep. That portable thermostat was used on my previous AC which did have an Eco mode to shut it off at the target temp, but it would cycle on every 5 mins to test, and it was way too loud for me, so the portable thermostat would cut the power to the AC until the ambient temp rises about 3°, which would take quite some time dependent upon the outdoor conditions, thus allowing me better longer uninterrupted sleep. I thought I might have to continue using it for this Midea (which allegedly supports AC power-loss restart), but with the longer 10 min interval, and it being so so quiet, it's unnecessary for me (which I prefer to cutting the power to the unit anyway).
I assume the Midea only shuts down with a swing of 3° less than the target temperature, but idk. If I start the AC up, then later (after target temp is reached) switch OFF Eco, Auto-cool,, and Auto-fan, and then put back all three of those settings, the unit DOES completely shut down. It then cycles on once every 10 mins to "test" the ambient air temp, as described in the manual. It will completely come back on after the swing goes +3° it seems like. (That's one thing that is NOT controllable in the Midea anyway, nor is it in any window AC I've encountered)
I don't know if this is a f/w bug, or intended function, but it's fine by me. The target temp is maintained perfectly with a very low (if not the lowest fan) and probably a minuscule compressor setting, and I can barely hear a thing. And it's drawing only about 85W during that time as measured on my Kill-A-Watt.
For info, the most I've seen it draw is ~725W upon initial startup in a 90° room. That very soon after moderates down in to the 400s for a bit, and then the 200s for a while, eventually getting and staying at 85W.
I would've loved to have gotten this unit in May or June to really have a FULL season one, AND a FULL season two next summer of utilization whilst still covered by the factory warranty (it's said you can get an extra 3 mo's warranty if you register the unit w/Midea, I haven't yet done this), but quality sleep even for 4 more weeks of end of summer is more important rn.
$239 is a great deal, the only better one was the flash sale at Walmart last Sep of $179, but so far I'm extremely satisfied.
The two main issues I have are... they seem to overshoot the temp quite a bit on cooler days/nights and the units creak and crack like a mofo as the thing cycles up and down.. likely due to temperature changes of the plastic near the vents. This is a real bitch when you are trying to sleep.
I saw them in the suburbs of Denver, but just checked 1 today and nada left.
do you feel like you need to drill the window bracket?
Thnaks!

Houston Chronicle - Can my energy provider turn up my smart thermostat in the heatwave? Maybe. [houstonchronicle.com]
It's happened in Texas and California, they blame it on local power companies, power companies blame it on local governments etc. It's probably easier to reset a window unit but people had to learn to hardwire their central ac thermostats or suffer in their 80 deg smart alexa/google etc thermostats.
In florida fpl requires this brick that allows them to shut off the ac remotely regardless of the smart device which they will offer you for free. But most people just tip the installer to skip it. But iv never seen them shut off any ac or heard of it in my state.
Just a thought to be aware, telemetry data from our devices is real. We need to make sure we have the control over others first.
How do I know/check mine has the ION feature? Also, if it's a bad thing, then why are they selling and still on products like this?
Or if your like me or some people that I work with. You just never connect it to the internet. It really doesn't need to. I don't want my ac updating firmware or anything like that, neither my toaster or fridge or dishwasher, etc. But of course you guys can decide for yourselves.
It's like they say someone who works at a tacobell won't eat from tacobell.
