the Pioneer is a better model. it has more power and a full set of pre-outs, so that extra cost is pretty small to be able to have that amplifier expandability later on if you need it.

Only thing stopping most from jumping on this is the lack of pre-outs. Big issue long term as you can't just juice it up with external amps.

Yes, I picked it up in a local Best Buy. It is brand new. I don't think it was ever plugged in. All accessories were still in factory plastic wrap, remote wasn't even opened. I think I got pretty lucky. I am very happy with it.

Good point. After touching and moving around around the NR 7100, I realized there is no way I can settle with an AV receiver/amplifier that is lighter than a bookshelf speaker. RZ70 weights more than double of NR7100.

Man, I thought it was a good deal at $899 when I bought it last February, but this is an absolute steal. Love mine with the DIRAC calibration. Only complaint is that darn delay Onkyo's have when you pause or parts playing media where the audio doesn't come up for a few seconds.

So, I does this receiver have Dirac Live calibration and according to this review site, does the lower rank and less features make any significant difference if using mostly for TV avr ?

This is an insane deal , I paid $699 and couldn't be happier with my 5.2.4 set up. Dirac made a big difference in my room.

The majority of people is a really broad category with a lot of different needs. How big is your volume of space, and how loud do you need it to be. Very few people need to hit Dancefloor levels with a high average signal

Most peoples music needs and theater needs are peaky and low average.

I also got my refurb RZ50 from Accessories4Less for that price to replace the RZ50 I bought "used, acceptable" from Amazon warehouse that had serious HDMI handshake issues (not making that mistake again, at least for AVRs lol). Absolutely banger unit that basically runs and looks brand new! Was more comfortable since they're about an hour away from where I live in case I had to return it (which I don't need to thankfully).

I definitely want to try Dirac. I was also looking for preouts because I'm interested to waste money going for cleaner power. Although I expect that the 120 watts per channel on the RZ-50 will mean I won't push it as much and it will inherently feel like such a cleaner source to me. I'm moving up from an Onkyo SR-393 which is more entry level and only 80 watts per channel. I feel like I won't be needing those preouts for quite some time.
