You can get a refurb m2 for $849 from apple, which will get you the newest redesigned body.
And the latest m3 costs $1099.
Personally I'd go with the apple-refurb m2 minimum, just from the standpoint that it looks more modern, has a faster chip, and will probably maintain its resale value better.

Space gray.
My brother has an older one of these and he can no longer update the OS, which will end up being a problem soon, as it makes the computer less secure.
after a clean windows 11 install, and open tabs, mem is at around 7GB. so if you don't anything else, it's going to be trash, i know because i own a few laptop with 8GB mem and it is painful.
I figured it out how to make it so Win11 boot as little as 1.6GB of RAM usage before running any apps such as Chrome.
Not saying it's for everyone but I did it for 8GB and one of my 4GB windows machines and machines ran fine for casual browsing and streaming with multiple tabs no issues.
detailed in the FAQ under the section Worried about 8GB RAM vs.16GB?
How to build Windows 11 with less ram required. This also bypass any CPU/TPM/SecureBoot requirements by Microsoft.
1. Tiny11 https://www.tomshardwar
2. I use these Debloater in addition to Tiny11 on a 4GB Laptop

- I don't use ThisIsWin11 anymore because support ended. I also don't like by default they disabled the Windows Hello (this is dumb to disable)
I have a machine running as low as 1.6GB on BOOT up.

And no this is not the normal price (maybe at Walmart only for now). Best Buy has it for $999.

That's one thing i hate when using my mac. No side to side feature when working with different programs you will normally use.
And when it is available, it is weird and only on certain "apps".
