There was a guy in the old thread who said he had 2 of them crack. But it was all made up I think , he mentioned apple was asking him to pay for shipping his laptop for service, I can guarantee that Apple will always cover shipping both ways in case you need service.
If you would be adding Applecare+ , do not buy at BestBuy instead call Apple support and ask for the Student Deal on Applecare+ , they are giving 20% off. ~$160+taxes for 3 year coverage.

I'm sure Mac OS does a lot of other things better than Windows but well I have lived my life without it so I can keep going on.
Mind you I'm not anti-Apple as I'm completely into Apple ecosystem except Mac. My Surface Pro7 might have shit battery but it is still holding up very well in terms of performance and works brilliantly with my 2-monitor setup without any DisplayLink workaround dongles.
This time I gave it a little time and watched snazzylabs YouTube tutorial on Mac, I think I love MacOS now ..
And I feel you may have tested Waters too soon when apps were not optimized for M1
Regarding your use case of using the MBA with a 2 monitor desktop setup, Mac Mini would be more suited for it.
Apple's walled garden really is addictive
Also store pickup do I need to show student id? Or can ai just enroll and purchase it?

Apple has sold millions of this and there are probably six stories of screen cracking online with no proof. I bought AppleCare+ and have been really harsh and carefree with my screen but no issues yet
AppleCare+ is only 160+tax if you call apple and request the student deal. It covers all accidental damage for 3 years and I think I'll get a new battery for sure unless apple has done some battery magic and they keep their capacity above 80% even after 3 years

But the real question is have you tried macOS with an open mind? It's different and will take time to adapt. But it's been built by people who are obsessive about user experience (a little too much)
Windows 10 is headed in the right direction but with the hardware advantage and the massive developer support in favor of Mac/Apple, I'm very happy that I switched.
