Got 16GB at the same with tax price after using Target GC deal and Apple BF deal. Recommend 16GB unless you just plan to use it for surfing. Activity Monitor shows 11 GB used with just a few chrome tabs and a couple of basic apps open, hopefully this helps others. Cheers!

Killer price, but I'm not spending any amount of money on a Mac with 8gb RAM unless it's for a younger student or elderly parent with limited needs.

I've owned MacBooks for 15 years and never had an issue with not enough ram. Windows needs 16+gb because it's a ram hog. Mac OS is not a ram hog.
8gb has been standard for almost 8 of those years despite large increases in OS complexity and app demands.

It's far too low for 2024.

I've got 16GB on my 2021 14" MBP and while it's fine most of the time it's not always enough.

This won't tell you if you need more ram because macOS believes empty ram is wasted ram. It will use up your ram for caching, faster app loads, etc. whether you have 8gb or 128gb -- it doesn't matter. This doesn't mean you need it, although Apple will happily take more money from you if you are mistaken. The only way is to see whether you are getting red memory pressure and/or your swap file is being used.

They can't even keep a few Safari tabs open without reloading.
My 10 year old macbook air just died on me, and I kept dozens of chrome tabs open on that thing. It only had 4gb ram. Macbooks are just built different.

iOS isn't the resource hog that windows is. Not to mention the battery was still lasting me 3 hours after a decade of daily use.

I use both windows laptops and macbooks because there are things I like about both, and things I dislike about both. But there is no question that in terms of build quality and optimization, the macbooks far exceed anything out there in the world of windows.

I ordered a Lenovo Legion Slim 7 in November for nearly twice the price of this air, and it's already on its way back to China for a faulty screen. You're really just playing roulette with non-apple laptops.

Better price than Best Buy's deal on one during Black Friday because you don't have to purchase the annual $50 Best Buy membership just to get this price. Still this has been the standard price during many sales throughout the year. I remember seeing $900 for these same specs at Costco for the longest time (but you had to order online if you didn't want it in blue).

Unless you have specific need for bigger screen, I would suggest stick to 13.6. It is light weight and portable. Go for 15 only when you keep the laptop at the desk more than using it on your lap.
Yep. I'd get an 11" if they still sold that screen size.
