It depends, this new UNIFIED MEMORY concept with the super fast SSDs will get you through almost all daily activities. I have 3 google chrome logins with ~15 tabs open on each all the time. 3-4 Safari tabs and work with Notes / Numbers and convert my iPhone videos to MP4 all the time. The system never feels laggy at all. I really mean NEVER

because a handful of people spread rumours on shady websites that the screen "spontaneously cracks" .
There was a guy in the old thread who said he had 2 of them crack. But it was all made up I think , he mentioned apple was asking him to pay for shipping his laptop for service, I can guarantee that Apple will always cover shipping both ways in case you need service.

That's the way to sweeten it.
If you would be adding Applecare+ , do not buy at BestBuy instead call Apple support and ask for the Student Deal on Applecare+ , they are giving 20% off. ~$160+taxes for 3 year coverage.

Can anyone share an order number who placed it for $749? Atleast whose order is shipped or picked up already so the chat agent says he will match the price.

Bro try a Mac then talk.. was a PC fanboi for years, huge mistake. This laptop is great for retired parents and CEOs that want to pretend they do computers
I've been using Macs since System 7. Jobs would never have approved of this soldered-everything disposable Mac direction. Offering only 8GB RAM models in big box stores is ridiculous, dispicable and very profitable.

Have you tried this thing personally? I would say go ahead and try one with open mind (Best Buy has a very good return policy). Ask around from people who you know use these laptops. if you go to Reddit/Forums , there is NOTHING in this world that people don't complain about.
I did. Returned it and got a mid-2015 MacBook Pro. Much happier.

People that complain about computer specs are like people who buy 100K trucks with a double cab, huge tires, and a long truck bed so they can drive it all by themselves on paved city roads to go to the grocery store. People just want more for the sake of having more.

The M1 Macbook Air meets the needs of the vast majority of people. Most people only ever use the browser. Chrome does not need more than 8gb of RAM. You do not need to have dozens of tabs open all at once, clean it up. The M1 Air is a light, fast, and capable machine for everyday needs of the average user.

If you have a specialized need for better specs on a computer like for gaming or video/image editing, you wouldn't be in this thread complaining. That's like going to McDonald's and complaining about the quality and size of their burgers. If you don't want a fast food burger, don't go to a place that serves fast food.

I'm all for Apple being regulated to give access to independent repair / use standardized parts and accessories. But I would not count Steve Jobs to be on my side .. I'm really amazed as to why you would cite him of all people when making that argument

The better of two evils. He at least cared about the products, and effectively rescued the company from oblivian. Current leadership is wholly made up of bean counters and supply chain experts.

The original Mac was designed to not be opened by consumers. Wozniak was the one who wanted easy to repair devices.

Before Jobs returned as iCEO, Apple started allowing "clones" to be made. Keeping on that trajectory would have allowed for them to be easier to repair but it also would have killed the company. Jobs returned and stopped that. Apple shortly released computers meant to "just work" and not be opened. Steve Jobs was absolutely on board with soldered parts.

$750 was a good price, I'm still holding out for the next gen Apple Silicon macbooks with refreshed design. I hope they won't be double/triple the price (relative to the M1 Air & MBP models) as rumored.
