It's not left over stock, it's a strategic move between Apple and Walmart: https://corporate.walmart.com/new...ts-shelves

It's not $750. It's $900 w/ a $150 gift card. There's a difference.

Y'all acting like this laptop is paperweight just because it's 3 years old. Name a $700 Windows laptop that can match this in build quality and battery life...

There is not much feature addition with latest m3. No need to get the latest one and shed additional 600 + tax
Yeah I'm suggesting to get the Apple-refurbished M2 for $150 more.

Not sure if you're familiar with Apple refurbs but they look like brand new, just a different style box.

If it's 699 at Walmart, I expect 599 for New at some retailer to be a real deal!
$649 at Best Buy but out of stock most of the time. You just have to check periodically for it to come back in stock & make sure your payment details are up to date (so you can finish checkout ASAP)

I had my head in Apples rear and someone mentioned checking activity monitor for memory pressure. So I did so on my 16gb Apple silicon machine thinking my tab hoarding issue wouldn't be a problem on a $2000 machine. Color me surprised. I was using 6gb of swap just for browser tabs. Closing them did not fix the issue, I had to close the browser.

More efficient memory usage my rear. However. I still like the machine, I'll just be monitoring activity monitor. Bugs me a little that I can't be who I am on this machine and that I need to run with things closed, but… oh well I guess. Consumers we shall be.

You have a limited group of people around you!!
I know plenty of people who would never buy anything from Apple Store, including me. And will not buy an Ipad, Iphone, or Airpods in the next few years. Not everyone is interested in Apple products, or spending lots of money on expensive consumer products.

But, all the best to you!
apple products (other than iphone and airpods and apple watch) are not expensive. iPad for example is excellent value at 300$. Macbook air is unbeatably good for the price. the "apple is expensive" stereotype defenitely came from how overpriced airpods, apple watch, and iphone are.

But I understand that not all people buy stuff from Apple, and thats OK. I must the say i like android phones like Oneplus 12R more than my iPhone 12

This is the best value for a "base" model m series macbook.
These are discontinued, but base m2 air and m3 don't offer much more

You mean buyers not population. I bet Walmart buyers are not in the market for MacBooks
the airs are cheap enough for Walmart

I have this laptop. It's slow as hell when not plugged in and battery is dead in 5 hours max. the one I have with the P processor is even worse.

piece of garbage that I need to bring a charger constantly to get decent power and even when plugged in, it's not as snappy as M1 Air even with 8GB for browsing and video use.

Having more ram and more storage without battery power to run it for a long time is silly. I only plug in my macbook once a day because the battery will last for an all day use with 8-10 hours. I don't get 18 hours because I'm not just playing a video at 50% brightness.

Just in (Vulnerability found in Apple's Silicon M-series chips – and it can't be patched):

https://mashable.com/article/appl...ption-keys

What chips are affected, and how can this be fixed?

The researchers were able to successfully mount key recovery attacks on Apple hardware containing M1 processors, and found that base-model M2 and M3 Apple Silicon CPUs display similar exploitable behavior. Other Apple Silicon variants weren't tested.

Intel processors are at risk too, but less so, the team notes. "Intel's 13th Gen Raptor Lake microarchitecture also features a DMP. However, its activation criteria are more restrictive, making it robust to our attacks."

Go read back on my previous post. That asus with windows is far more superior than this shitty mac.
Is this grammar policing or trolling?

Are you always a snob? I have bought over 20 Macs throughout my life and I shop at walmart weekly. Hundreds of thousands of people who shop at walmart are in the market for MacBooks.
My point, you and me dont represent the population of USA. But I bet you saved a lot of money if you have decided to buy your Macs from Walmart. Congrats!

Good price, considering you'd normally pay this much for a refurb M1. But I'm wondering how they have so many of these left. It's a 2YO model.
I'm pretty sure this is the 2020 model. So, it's 3+ years old.
