Edit: https://www.asus.com/support/faq/1049059/ I get that it is in beta, but yes, it does in fact have a BIOS update to support USB4.
- 4060 trades blows with the 6800s, in some games, esp at high frame rates, the 6800s is faster, in most games, the 4060 is faster by up to 15%, normally under 10%
- DLSS 3.0 is a big deal. Frame gen makes a big difference in high res single player games at very high settings.
- the 2023 is quieter and cooler by a small amount.
-165Hz display on this vs 120 on the 22.
- this one has 512GB storage, the 22 has 1Tb.
- the CPU is up to 20% faster than 22, I would bet you couldn't tell in normal use and few games will be CPU limited here.
Honestly, to most, I don't think this is worth it unless 4k gaming or RTX are critical to you
Edit: informs raw facts, someone who woke up on the wrong side of the bed is mad and downvotes it. lol
I'm leaning towards the $700 2022 model for now, it doesn't seem like the upgrades are worth $300 more.
Edit: as others have pointed out. This does have a 1080p webcam, but website description is wrong.

EDIT: I was wrong. The 2023 G14 does have a 1080p IR webcam. 2022 one has 720p. Best Buy website is wrong.
What kind of battery life are you seeing?
Im thinking with the new chassis this year, these models will be heavily discounted in less than a year.
If I can get this model open box "good" for around 500 I cant pass it up.
Doesn't Best Buy still honor 1 year warranty through them (geek squad) even if it's open box? Or did something change?
I suggest removing putting the latest AMD chipset drivers from AMD's site. I had trouble waking up from sleep until I did. A thread from a few sales ago also had a link to get newer drivers for the WiFi and Bluetooth card. They are not on Asus page for G14 downloads.

Right now I'm watching a movie and windows estimates 7hr (@65%).
60hz, no backlit, silent mode, and dGPU disabled on battery.

Box was destroyed. Only thing inside was the laptop and the charger. Told employee I'd like to test it out and she let me use the geek squad area.
1) Tested ports: I brought my own keyboard, 65w usb-c, 3.5mm headphones.
2) went to bios to validate memory, nvme, gpu, cpu, firmware
3) booted to and setup windows, tethered to iPhone hotspot to ensure WiFi worked, paired headphones to Bluetooth too (although Reddit says Linux users should swap out the WiFi/bt card for Intel)
4) run crystalmark, cpuinfo (portable)
5) incl power supply was correct 240w (20v 12A)
6) run deadpixel test
7) test all keyboard function keys
Also… didn't understand ghelper until I brought it home… but for Asus.. ghelper is a must. Tried manually uninstalling armorycrate/myAsus but ended up doing clean win11 install and ghelper.
Already swapped ssd for my own 2tb 850x
Runs amazing! Watch YT on not running turbo mode. The fans do get noisy. Def happy with $120 more than the 2022.
Good luck!
So ya, the 2 returns were no problem since I was well within the return windows. The 2nd one crashed within 20 seconds when they checked in store if it was back to the Windows setup state. Pisses me off the 2nd one was resold when it was clearly defective. I'll give the SSD in the first one a pass for being missed, but they should have noticed the power brick was scuffed up from wear all over. I would have kept it, but they wouldn't price adjust it. I just wanted the $60 power brick to be replaced since the SSD was 1 TB and not that much slower than the OEM 512 GB.
Within 6 months Im guessing.
Im not in a rush to get one, so if it doesnt I just wont upgrade.
